NODA OFFICERS & BOARD MEMBERS

BRIEF POSITION DESCRIPTIONS


OFFICERS & DIRECTORS-AT-LARGE

PRESIDENT presides at Board Meetings and appoints and coordinates the various NODA committees.  Nominees for President must have served the Board at some time, in some capacity, thereby gaining a working knowledge of the many committees that keep NODA functioning.

VICE PRESIDENT assists the President and take over in the Presidents absence.  The Vice President will also be the Chairman of the Recognized Show and will act as the liaison between the hired Show Manager, the Show Secretary and the Board.

TREASURER  keeps complete records of all Association finances; oversee accounts, investments and tax records.  Nominees must have a working knowledge of keeping financial records and tax preparations for non-profit organizations.  

SECRETARY
attend all Board Meetings and record minutes of all proceedings.  Minutes must be sent to all Board members as soon as possible, with ample notification of the next meeting.  Corresponding Secretary

PARLIAMENTARIAN  is filled by the outgoing President.  The Parliamentarian serves as NODA Representative to the USDF annual meeting.

DIRECTORS-AT-LARGE (Five Positions)  
The purpose of these five positions is to ensure that the makeup of NODA's Board has broad geographical representation for its membership.    They are responsible for bringing to the attention of the NODA Board issues and views of NODA members.  They can and should attend the monthly board meetings to exercise their vote on important issues that impact members.

YEAR-END AWARDS
Responsible for the annual review of Year-End Award information published in the Handbook and website; receives Year-End Award applications from members and tabulates Year-End awards.  Tools Needed:    Computer with Email, spreadsheet program

AWARDS BANQUET
Organizes the annual awards banquet with assistance of volunteer committee members


COMMUNICATIONS

 

EXTERNAL RELATIONS CHAIR

Must be a Licensed Official (like a Technical Delegate).  Responsible to keep NODA informed about issues that may affect the association and/or the sport; to be a contact for outside entities or horse facilities who may not otherwise have a connection to the NODA Board or Committees.  Helps to fulfill NODA's commitment to "the bigger picture", and to be involved in where the sport of dressage  is, or could be going, regionally and nationally.

YouTube ADMINISTRATOR   Monitors and updates NODA's YouTube.com website. 

CORRESPONDENCE SECRETARY 

Sends correspondence when requested (for example, thank you or condolence or congratulation letters).


HANDBOOK COORDINATOR
Annually revises, publishes and distributes the NODA handbook to members;

NEWSLETTER EDITORS
Newsletter Editor publish educational information to the membership that comes from the board of directors, USDF, articles from members, or show results, in a timely manner on a monthly basis.

WEBMASTER & FACEBOOK CHAIR

The Webmaster provides an interesting, dynamic, informative, educational, and visually pleasing website for NODA members, as well as maintaining and updating the NODA Facebook page daily.  


EDUCATION  / HISTORY / MEMBERSHIP

 

EDUCATION
Organizes educational events, apply for USDF University Certification if applicable.   Also organize 2 or 3 Open Member Meetings that include equine education topics and presentations.  

 

HISTORICAL
Organizes and tracks history of NODA through scrapbooks or files of printed matter, photos and memorabilia.   Go-to person for questions on NODA history.

MEMBERSHIP

Receives membership applications and dues, maintains member roster, provides membership information to USDF as per GMO guidelines; regularly updates various board members with new member information; point of contact for all membership questions and activities.


LIAISONS

JR/YR
s LIAISON
Responsible for reaching to Juniors and Young Riders who are not necessarily involved in NODA, as well as being the contact person to work with NODA”s "youth membership". 
 

MEMBERS LIAISON
Point of contact for NODA members who have questions, concerns, suggestions, ideas, etc.

PROFESSIONALS LIAISON
Point of contact for NODA Professional members who have questions, concerns, suggestions, ideas, etc.; responsible for coordinating NODA”s Professional Grants program.


RECOGNIZED SHOWS

CHAIRPERSON
Works with the Show Manager and Show Secretary to oversee and coordinate all aspects and functions of the Recognized Show.  Reports to the Board on all activities of the Recognized Show Committee.  

MANAGER
Organizes two Recognized Shows hosted and sponsored by NODA each year. 

SHOW SECRETARY
Coordinates show activities with USEF and USDF, responsible for creating, publishing and mailing Prize List, receives entry forms, schedules ride times for the two Recognized shows hosted by NODA, reports show results as per USDF and USEF guidelines.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Recruits, coordinates, and schedules the approximately 40-50 volunteers necessary to run NODA's two annual Recognized Shows.

SPONSORS/ADVERTISING CHAIRPERSON
Responsible for sourcing and coordinating sponsorship and advertising of the shows

SCHOOLING SHOWS

CHAIRPERSON(s)
Attends each schooling show to coordinate show activities.   Reports to the Board on the Schooling Show Committee activities.  
Organizes, coordinates and oversees Schooling Show details including but not limited to, venues, judges, contracts, prize list, volunteers and equipment.  Works closely with the Show Secretary and committee members to assure the smooth operation of each show.

 

SHOW SECRETARY

Responsible for pre-show entry processing work, scheduling, day-of-show competitor contact,  post show reporting.  Off-season activities include assisting show manager with annual Prize List preparation, and providing ribbon counts for ordering.   Must be computer proficient.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Recruits, coordinates, and schedules the schooling show volunteers for each NODA schooling show by telephone and email.
